Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s Flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko, is supposed to be the center of attention heading into her UFC Fight Night 156 main event against Liz Carmouche this weekend (Sat., Aug, 10, 2019) inside Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Mike Perry didn’t get the memo.

“Platinum” is set to throwdown with Vicente Luque — winner of five consecutive UFC bouts — in Welterweight action. Most fight fans expect it to be the “Fight of the Night” and steal the ESPN+ show … and Perry was all sorts of fired up at the recent media day to promote their looming donnybrook.

Indeed, the 170-pound pair came face-to-face Thursday at the conclusion of the UFC Fight Night 156 media day. And they will do it again later this afternoon at the ceremonial weigh in event, which begins at 5 p.m. ET (complete results here). So, too, will Shevchenko and Carmouche, as well as the rest of the field of fighters competing in South America this weekend.
