On Saturday night the UFC Octagon returns to Denver, Colorado where the promotion’s story began 25 years ago. UFC Fight Night: “Korean Zombie vs. Rodriguez” marks the 456th UFC event since then, not bad for a little bloodsport that found itself nearly pushed out of existence for being too brutal.
While UFC Denver may be a special anniversary event, it wasn’t special enough to warrant its own ceremonial weigh-ins at the Pepsi Center. Instead, fighters faced off following the official morning weigh-ins. All fighters but bantamweight Raquel Pennington (2 pounds over) and strawweight Maycee Barber (.5 over) made weight (full weigh-in results here).
Now onto the staredowns. Chan Sung Jung and Yair Rodrigurez kept things respectful and uneventful…
Nothing but respect between skilled strikers @KoreanZombieMMA and @Panteraufc

…while Mike Perry pulled a bit of a ‘Just Bleed’ with his flexing in a good natured standoff with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.
Interesting face off between @CowboyCerrone and @PlatinumPerry
Safe to say Perry is excited for the fight… #UFCDenver pic.twitter.com/GKwzZuxXuo
