UFC Fight Night 159 injuries and medical suspensions for the athletes who competed at the “Rodriguez vs Stephens”-led event this past weekend (Sat. After a violent night of fights, there were several lengthy suspensions issued out, which of course were led by Jeremy Stephens, who was tagged with a six-month sit after he was the recipient of an eye poke from Yair Rodriguez.

The inadvertent poke caused an deep bruise and abrasion, and forced officials to rule the fight a No Contest just 15 seconds into the main event.

Of course, Jeremy will likely be cleared much sooner, which is great for him as he wants to run it back as soon as possible to prove that not only is he the better fighter, but that he wasn’t looking for a way out of the bout.

Vanessa Melo suspended 30 days.

Steven Peterson suspended 7 Days to Peterson for mandatory rest.

Martin Bravo suspended 60 days for KO – CT was negative, and 45 Days no contact.

Jose Alberto Quinonez suspended 30 days to for for right foot soreness.

Carlso Huachin suspended 7 days for mandatory rest.

Kyle Nelson defeated Polo Reyes by KO (elbow and punches, Round 1, 1:36)

Polo Reyes suspended for 180 days for TKO or cleared by Neuro, 45 Day minimum, and 30 days no contact.

Angela Hill suspended 7 Days to Hill for mandatory rest.

Ariane Carnelossi suspended 180 days or cleared by Nasal X-Ray, 30 Day minimum for left brow laceration.

Sergio Pettis suspended for 7 days.

Tyson Nam suspended for 30 days.

Paul Craig suspended for 7 days.

Vinicius Moreira suspended for 30 days.

Bethe Correia suspended for 60 days, 45 Days No Contact.

Sijara Eubanks suspended for 60 days, 45 Days No Contact.

Claudio Puelles suspended for 30 days and 21 Days No Contact.

Marcos Rosas Mariano suspended for 30 days.

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
