Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley should be on their best behavior in the presence of former UFC Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic.
Stipe Miocic and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White have a meeting planned, but Miocic will take a step in White’s shoes as the mediator for the Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley weigh-in.
Paul vs. Woodley will headline Showtime Boxing’s pay-per-view event (PPV) on Aug. 29, 2021 (also streaming on FITE) inside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio. Miocic — like Paul — is a resident of Cleveland. The former UFC Heavyweight champion told ESPN’s Marc Raimondi he would play the role of “Dana White” at Saturday’s weigh-in.
“Stipe Miocic tells me he’s going to be the ‘Dana White’ of the Paul vs. Woodley weigh-ins Saturday here in Cleveland, standing between the fighters and making sure ‘no one does anything frisky,’” Raimondi wrote.
Typically, the UFC boss stands in between fighters at face-offs and weigh-ins to make sure no one gets physical (with mixed success).
Miocic (20-4) has not competed since losing his title via second-round knockout to Francis Ngannou (16-3) at UFC 260, which took place inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, on March 27, 2021 (watch highlights).
