Bobby Green and Jalin Turner squared off in a Lightweight contest earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 2, 2023) at UFC Austin inside Moody Center in Austin, Texas.
Green leaped forward into an immediate connection, but Turner fired right back with a crispy 1-2. The boys were not waiting around! Turner, per usual, looked massive in the Octagon, and he started ripping low kicks. Green burst forward and found a right hook connection. Turner answered with a two-punch combination straight to the chin. After ducking a high kick, Green looked for a body lock takedown, but Turner resisted it and broke free.
Moments later, Turner caught Green leaning with a powerful straight shot. Green hit the floor face down, and Turner pounced, unleashing a savage barrage of strikes. Green was fully flat, face-down on the canvas. Was he moving to defend himself, or was his limp body simply rippling from the nasty impact of Turner’s punches?
Maybe that question could excuse one or two punches, but referee Kerry Hatley just KEPT LETTING HIM PUNCH! It was disgusting, one of the worst non-stoppages in years. The commentary crew was yelling for the fight to be stopped, and then it STILL went on for another dozen punches.
Horrific.
It’s bad for everyone. Jalin Turner’s first-round knockout win is overshadowed by the awful officiating. Green’s career longevity has already been very impressive and fairly unexpected, but this knockout loss could very well end his ability to continue competing at such a high level. He was knocked in-and-out of consciousness multiple times!
Truly, this was a bad, bad moment.
Result: Jalin Turner defeats Bobby Green via first-round knockout
