The Ohio Athletic Commission released the medical suspensions for this past weekends Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey event, naming eight of the nights eighteen competitors.
Saddled with indefinite suspensions were Miesha Tate, Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza, Roger Bowling, and Conor Heun.
Tate, who lost her Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight title to opponent Ronda Rousey in the main event, was sentenced for a left arm injury caused when Rousey bent the arm back in an unnatural position during an armbar submission. Tate revealed that the arm was not broken but is waiting further tests to determine the extent of the damage done to her arm.
Souza broke his left hand and thumb (pictured) in his fight versus last minute replacement Bristol Marunde. He was given an indefinite suspension by the Commission and will have to have it cleared by a physician before he can return to training. Souza was still able to manage an arm-triangle submission to win the fight despite the damage in his hand.
