Sarah Kaufman, one of the pioneers of women’s mixed martial arts (MMA) will make her return to Invicta FC to kick off her 2018 fight campaign, thanks to a headlining spot against an opponent to be named on Jan. 13 inside Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Missouri.
MMA Fighting brought word of the booking on Wednesday.
Kaufman (18-4, 1 NC) rose to fame under the now-defunct Strikeforce banner, where she captured the women’s bantamweight title. While her success did not translate to UFC stardom (2-2, 1 NC), the 32-year-old Canadian does hold wins over Miesha Tate, Roxanne Modafferi, and Alexis Davis, among others.
After her contract expired and failed to come to terms on a new deal with UFC, Kaufman tried to finagle a Cris Cyborg fight, prior to the Brazilian’s addition to the WME | IMG-owned roster.
Kaufman was last seen capturing a unanimous decision win over Jessica-Rose Clark at Battleground: “The Great Beginning” back in March.
