Jornel Lugo scored his second win via submission earlier tonight (Fri., Aug. 20, 2021) after he submitted Keith Lee via rear-naked chole in the opening main card fight of Bellator 265 in Uncasville, Connecticut.

But the call didn’t go down as simple as it sounds.

In the closing seconds of the opening round, Lugo managed to catch Lee — younger brother of Kevin Lee — in a precarious position, forcing him to defend a rear-naked choke. He fought till the end of the round, refusing to tap before time ran out.

While it seemed Lee survived the round and we would be seeing a second after the buzzer rang, a few seconds later the referee called for the end of the fight. That’s because immediately after the round ended, Lee hopped up — or woke up — and started to sprint across the cage before stumbling and catching his balance.

That was enough for the referee on duty to wave his hands and call an end to the fight. That is now seven straight wins for Lugo to remain undefeated, while Lee goes home with two straight defeats under the Bellator banner.
