Once Jessica Penne got her hands on Karolina Kowalkiewicz’s arm it was only a matter of time before she forced the tap.
Jessica Penne’s return to action after four years of United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) stupidity was pretty shaky … the official word was a judge’s decision win, but it was more of a gift than legit victory. Still, it got her back in the win column and now she’s looking back to top form after defeating Karolina Kowalkiewicz via armbar at UFC 265, which took place tonight (Sat., Aug. 7, 2021) inside Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
This was a classic striker vs. grappler bout from the start, and it basically ended once Penne hit a nice reversal on Kowalkiewicz, putting her on her back. From there it was only a matter of time before she grabbed an arm and started working on an armbar. It took her awhile, but with 28 seconds left in the first round she had Kowalkiewicz’s arm stretched out and turning backward.

The win puts her at 3-3 in UFC (14-5 MMA) and drops Kowalkiewicz to 5-7 in UFC (12-7 MMA). This is Kowalkiewicz’s fifth loss in a row inside the Octagon, so we have to wonder if she’ll be brought back.
