Sean O’Malley responds to Paddy Pimblett and reveals the likely date for his next UFC fight.

Sean O’Malley has his next UFC fight in mind and words for fellow brash fighter Paddy Pimblett.

O’Malley was in talks to fight Frankie Edgar; however, Edgar will now fight Marlon Vera at UFC 268, taking place inside Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York on Sat., Nov. 6 via ESPN+ pay-per-view. “Suga” Sean said his coach was unavailable to corner him that weekend, which is why O’Malley decided to look for a later date instead. The additional taxes in the state of New York were also a factor.

“I would have loved to fight Frankie in Vegas on Dec. 11. I would have loved that. That would have been ideal. That would have been what I wanted, but [UFC] wanted him to fight in New York,” O’Malley told Ariel Helwani on Monday’s episode of The MMA Hour. “It was 100 percent about the date. I loved the match-up. But I’m not worried about it. These are things I don’t really stress about.

“That sounds like the plan,” O’Malley said when asked if a Dec. 11 fight was in the works. “Still 12 or 13 weeks out but Dec. 11 sounds like that will be the next date.”

UFC 269 will take place on Dec. 11; however, no location or venue has been publicly finalized. O’Malley rejected the idea of a Pimblett fight when Helwani suggested it; however, he said that could be a big fight down the line. “Suga” has no idea what issues Pimblett may have with him.

“I have no idea. I didn’t know of him until the UFC kinda started posting stuff about him and I obviously don’t follow him. So, just a bunch of people started telling me Paddy’s talking s—t so I’m not gonna not talk s—t back,” he said (h/t SportsKeeda). “So yeah I don’t know. I don’t know what his beef was with me… As ugly and stupid as he may look, he’s kinda smart. He’s talking about the biggest name in the UFC. I’m clearly one of the biggest draws. I’m the cash cow and he knows that.”

UFC 269 is scheduled for Sat., Dec. 11 and is currently expected to be headlined by a UFC Women’s Bantamweight title fight pitting Amanda Nunes vs. Julianna Pena. Other notable fights on the card include Cody Garbrandt’s flyweight debut against Kai Kara-France, plus Montana De La Rosa vs. Maycee Barber.
