With Noche UFC at the Sphere just two months away, O’Malley is in camp preparing for a fight that may or may not happen.

Is Sean O’Malley fighting at the Sphere? “Suga” doesn’t know, but he’s training like he is.

The big Riyadh Season Noche UFC card at the Sphere on September 14th (also known as UFC 306) is expected to be headlined by Mexican flyweight champion Alexa Grasso and a second marquee title fight. Neither has been confirmed yet, and the clock is ticking: 66 days to go as of July 10th.

That has one potential Sphere headliner, Sean O’Malley, feeling ‘frustrated’ about the lack of information coming from the UFC on what’s next.

“No f—ing update for you fellas,” he said about fight news during a new Timbo Suga Show. “I’m still hoping for the Sphere. Still the same s— … Sphere or December. I’m pretty sure either way it’s going to be in Vegas, which I’m pumped about.”

This isn’t a UFC 300 problem where there are just no worthy fights available. In this case it’s the opposite: the UFC has a bunch of great options.

“Dana keeps saying it’s going to be something crazy,” O’Malley said. “I know you’ve got [Conor] McGregor and [Michael] Chandler maybe going around, you’ve got Max [Holloway] and Ilia [Topuria], you’ve got me and Merab [Dvalishvili], you’ve got some pretty big fights to possibly make.”

At this point, though, the UFC needs to decide something. They’re starting to cut into fighter training camps at this point, which is not very professional of them.

“Honest to God, I have not heard from the UFC yet and we’re getting goddamn close,” he said. “I’m in camp right now just in case, because it’s a little over nine weeks out, so I’m in camp now just in case. Yeah, it is frustrating. But it is what it is.”
