The Indian based Super Fight League promotion is continuing to forge ahead with four more events for 2012 following a disappointing fan turnout for it’s third event.
It’s next show, scheduled for this September according to promotion CEO Ken Pavio, who spoke to MMAjunkie.com Radio recently, and will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between UFC veterans Jeff ‘The Snowman’ Monson (46-13-1) and Todd Duffee (7-2).
SFL 4 will take place on September 8, 2012 in Bengaluru, India.
Monson has rebounded from a decision loss to Fedor Emelianenko last November by going 3-0-1 in his last four matches including a first round submission win over Russian fighter Denis Komkin at last weeks M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Rizzo event. ‘The Snowman’ has been fighting for various promotions over the past few years competing for M-1, Strikeforce among others. Other than the loss to Fedor, his last memorable bout was a decision loss to Strikeforce Grand Prix tournament winner Daniel Cormier in an alternate bout for the tournament in June 2011.
Duffee, who signed a four-fight deal with the SFL last February, debuted with the promotion in April at SFL 2, stopping former Bellator heavyweight Neil Grove by first round knockout at 34-seconds. The win ended a two fight losing skid dating back to 2010 for the former UFC fighter. The losses included knockout defeats at the hands of Alistair Overeem for the DREAM heavyweight title and to Mike Russow at UFC 114.
Also announced for future SFL events were bouts between UFC vets Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (12-10) vs. Trevor Prangley (25-9-1) and Japanese Olympian Satoshi Ishii (4-2-1) vs. Jimmy Ambriz (16-18-1).
