Former UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt is contemplating a return to the combat sports arena at some point in 2024. The aging “Super Samoan,” who turns 50 in March, is currently speaking to Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) about a possible debut against one of the promotion’s top heavyweights in June.
Mick Terrill is the current BKFC heavyweight champion.
“I’m kind of keen on doing some bare knuckle,” Hunt told The MMA Hour. “I have been talking to the [BKFC] for a while ago, but we just didn’t lock down a deal. I’m keen on doing some bare-knuckle, I had a lot of messages with the champ, Terrill, maybe we can throw our hands together somewhere. Dave [Feldman] has actually messaged me about – we’ve been speaking about a fight. Maybe in June we can sort something out, I’ll be ready to throw hands, and hopefully, I thought I’d take that title in three fights fights, well, take it in one.”
Hunt has been known to balloon up to more than 300 pounds.
The last time fans saw the “Super Samoan” in action, Hunt was handing former rugby star Sonny Bill Williams his first professional boxing loss in Sydney. The ex-kickboxing champion finished his MMA career with a mark of 13-14-1, 1 NC but remains a popular athlete among longtime combat sports fans.
