Superkombat to air kickboxing and MMA on CBS Sports Network in 2017

Good news for kickboxing fans as Superkombat will now be available in the US.

In an exciting piece of news for US kickboxing fans, the European-based Superkombat organization announced today that their shows will air in the United States on CBS Sports Network in 2017. The channel will air 6 shows in 2017 featuring kickboxing and MMA fights. No exact schedule is set just yet.

Superkombat was formed in 2011 and has grown into one of the world’s top kickboxing organizations. Based out of Romania, the company has increased their international presence over the years, including a show last year in Puerto Rico, plus a Romanian show last year that drew a very impressive 34,000 fans. A number of big name fighters have had notable runs in Superkombat including Ismael Londt, Errol Zimmerman, Benjamin Adegbuyi, Andrei and Bogdan Stoica, and many more.

Following in the tradition set forth by K-1, Superkombat stages a yearly Grand Prix tournament that culminates in an annual tournament champion – past champions have included Sergei Lascenko and Pavel Zhuravlev. The CBS Sports shows will include fights from the 2017 GP.

Superkombat now joins Glory, Bellator Kickboxing, and Lion Fight as kickboxing/Muay Thai organizations readily available to US fans. Considering this is a sport that seemed on the verge of death a few years ago with no US broadcast representation at all, this latest is just more news of the continued life left in kickboxing. It’s a great time to be a fan of the striking arts.

We will have more updates on Superkombat on CBS Sports Network as they become available.
