Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is expected to make an announcement on Wednesday (Dec. 30), which already has the mixed martial arts (MMA) community in a stir.
Probably because “Rush” has been teasing a potential showdown against longtime UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov — and “The Eagle” recently revealed that he’s set to meet with promotion president Dana White.
Just a coincidence? Probably, but certainly worth considering.
St-Pierre, 39, already made his return to the cage for a middleweight title fight against Michael Bisping in late 2017, only to vacate the strap immediately following the bout. That didn’t sit well with White, who won’t let “Rush” pull a similar stunt with “The Eagle.”
Hopefully when the French-Canadian reveals his “new team” it’s not something stupid like his new fantasy hockey team. I guess we’ll find out one way or the other when St-Pierre makes his big reveal tomorrow.
