Veteran featherweight Cub Swanson will look to rebound from a three-fight skid in May.
The UFC’s return to Ottawa just got a lot better.
Cub Swanson is set to meet Shane Burgos in a featherweight bout at UFC Ottawa on May 4, the Toronto Sun reported Wednesday afternoon.
Swanson will look to bounce back from a three-fight skid in the fight. “Killer Cub” is coming off losses to Renato Moicano, Frankie Edgar, and Brian Ortega. He last won in April 2017 in a main-event bout against Artem Lobov.
Most recently, Burgos rebounded from the first loss of his pro career against Kurt Holobaugh, submitting him with an armbar in the first round at UFC 230 last November. Before that, “Hurricane” fell to Calvin Kattar via third-round TKO at UFC 220 in early 2018. Burgos is 4-1 in the promotion.
UFC Ottawa, which takes place at Canadian Tire Centre, is headlined by a pivotal lightweight bout between Al Iaquinta and Donald Cerrone. Also on the card, Derek Brunson meets Elias Theodorou at middleweight.
