Kron Gracie’s next UFC fight is lined up to be against veteran featherweight Cub Swanson.
An intriguing prospect vs. veteran matchup is slated for the fall.
ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reported on Tuesday that a featherweight tilt between Kron Gracie and Cub Swanson is close to finalized for a UFC event on October 12th. The entire card will stream live on ESPN+.
Gracie (5-0) made his UFC debut in February, choking out Alex Caceres in just a shade over two minutes. All of his professional MMA victories have come by submission, including against Japanese MMA legend Tatsuya Kawajiri on 2016. The prolific jiu-jitsu star is the son of the great Rickson Gracie, who may or may not have submitted 90% of the world’s population by armbar.
Swanson (25-11) is on a career-worst four-fight losing streak. Once one of the top contenders at 145 lbs, the 35-year-old is coming off a split decision defeat against Shane Burgos at UFC Ottawa. His other losses during his run were against Renato Moicano, Frankie Edgar, and Brian Ortega. Swanson’s most recent win was in April 2017, as he took a five-round decision over Artem Lobov to cap off what was a four-fight winning streak.
No venue or city has been announced for this UFC card, although Chase Center in San Francisco, CA has been discussed. The event is expected to be headlined by former strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Michelle Waterson.
