For only fighting once in 2024, former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill has been in the news a lot. Whether it be clowned for his run-in with Alex Pereira or being bored by a vicious knockout at UFC 307.
Whatever “Sweet Dreams” does nowadays seems to get under everyone’s skin, and because of that, the former champion is fine being a UFC villain.
“Here’s the thing, bro. If ya’ll want to talk about me, talk about me, but we’re going to make sure my name stays in the right place,” Hill told James Lynch. “UFC 310 just happened [two weeks ago]. Who dominated the headlines? You feel me? I fought one time in two years. Who is dominating the headlines? Every time [fans] see my face, they come running to my comment section to talk about me. Who is living in whose head rent-free? Any publicity is good publicity.”
There are levels to being a UFC villain. Is Hill on Josh Koscheck’s level? Hell no. He’s not even on prime douchebag Michael Bisping’s level. However, he might be getting to the point of a Colby Covington, which is wild because Hill was a fan favorite before this year.
To quote Harvey Dent, “You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”
The former 205 lb champion returns to action at UFC 311 in Jan. 2025 against Jiri Prochazka in what he believes is a No. 1 contender fight for him.
