Heavyweight prospect Tai Tuivasa is lined up for a fight against Blagoy Ivanov at UFC 238.
The UFC’s return to Chicago will also mark another fight for Tai Tuivasa in “The Windy City.”
A report from The Daily Telegraph in Australia says Tuivasa will take on former WSOF champion Blagoy Ivanov at UFC 238 on June 8th at the United Center. The night’s main card airs live on pay-per-view, with prelims on ESPN and UFC Fight Pass.
A protege of Mark Hunt, Tuivasa (8-1) aims to get back in the win column after suffering a second-round TKO loss to Junior dos Santos in last December’s UFC Adelaide main event. His UFC career started with a pair of knockouts against Rashad Coulter and Cyril Asker, followed by a unanimous decision over former champion Andrei Arlovski at UFC 225 in Chi-town.
Ivanov (17-2, 1 NC) made his UFC debut last July against Junior dos Santos, losing a five-round decision in the UFC Boise main event. The Bulgarian notched his first win inside the Octagon earlier this month at UFC Wichita, squeaking past Ben Rothwell by decision in a grueling contest.
Current UFC rankings have Tuivasa at #12 and Ivanov at #14.
UFC 238 features a women’s flyweight title fight between champion Valentina Shevchenko and Jessica Eye. No main event has been announced yet.
