41-year-old UFC veteran Glover Teixeira just inched himself closer to a second title shot at UFC Vegas 13.
At 41 years of age, Glover Teixeira continues to rack up victories against the elite 205-pounders in the UFC. On Saturday, at UFC Vegas 13, he stopped fellow former title contender Thiago Santos via third-round submission using his sharp takedown and submission game.
Currently on a five-fight win streak with decisive wins over Ion Cutelaba and Anthony Smith, the number three-ranked Teixeira wants another shot at the belt. And he wants it now.
“Dana White, come on, man. I’m an old man over here, you’re gonna give the shot to Adesanya and make me wait? Come on, man,” he told Jon Anik during the post-fight interview. “Five fights in a row, beating these young guys. It’s not easy. Give me that title shot, man.”
Teixeira did make a good case for himself to be the next title contender, and both the former and current titleholders agree.
Great fight and incredible run by @gloverteixeira. You totally deserve to fight for the title and get taste of the #LegendaryPolishPower.
If Adesanya can’t wait till March, let’s go #UFCVegas13
