UFC Vegas 10 is in need of a new main event.
Yet another UFC main event has been nixed due to COVID-19.
UFC officials confirmed to ESPN that Glover Teixeira has tested positive for the deadly virus, and as a result his September 12th main event vs. Thiago Santos has been moved to October 3rd. It will also no longer be a main event, as that spot is already taken by Irene Aldana vs. Holly Holm.
Teixeira (31-7) has been riding a four-fight winning streak, including a dominant fifth-round TKO finish of fellow former light heavyweight title challenger Anthony Smith back in May. The 40-year-old’s team told ESPN that Teixeira feels “100%” and that the positive test result came back on Wednesday morning.
Santos (21-7) has been out of action after losing a close decision to former champion Jon Jones at UFC 239. Unfortunately, the hard-hitting striker tore basically everything in his left knee during that fight and eventually had surgeries on both knees.
The co-main event for UFC Vegas 10 is Michelle Waterson vs. Angela Hill. It is unclear whether or not that will get the bump to headlining status. If it does, it surely will just be a three-rounder instead of five.
