Light heavyweight wrecking ball Tafon Nchukwi blasted his way into the win column on Dana White’s “Contender Series” last Tues. night (Sept. 8, 2020) inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, drilling Al Matavao with a second-round head kick that left the Samoan frozen for several minutes. “Sweetness” eventually regained consciousness but left the Octagon on a stretcher.
Not surprisingly, the highlight-reel finish was enough to score the 25 year-old Nchukwi a UFC deal.
“I would normally take a guy like this and put him in a developmental program,” White said after the fight. “But he scared the shit out of me in that last fight and I’m gonna bring him right into the UFC.”
Also landing contracts in “Sin City” were Phil Hawes (middleweight), Drako Rodriguez (bantamweight), and Aliaskhab Khizriev (middleweight).
