Ever get something stuck in your eye and think, “Wow, this is the worst feeling ever.”

Imagine how poor Devin Powell must feel, as the old “Let me try to get this out with a Q-tip and not blind myself” trick doesn’t work when it’s a hematoma, one bad enough to leave him without sight in his right eye.

We can blame Jesus Pinedo for that.

“So that was the scariest injury I’ve had in a fight. In the middle of the second round I suffered a hematoma inside my eyeball,” Powell wrote on Instagram. “My whole right eye filled with blood (as you can see in the photo) making me completely blind in that eye all the way up until I left the hospital that night. No detached retinas, I am always doing a bit better and my foot isn’t broken even though it looks like a giant balloon.”

Powell (9-4) dropped a unanimous decision to “El Mudo” on the preliminary card of last weekend’s UFC Argentina event in Buenos Aires. The recovering lightweight was frustrated with his opponent’s unwillingness to engage and has now dropped three of four inside the Octagon.
