It’s fun to pick on Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and let’s be honest, criticizing the world’s largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion is like throwing water balloons at a moving train. That being said, there isn’t much fault to be found with UFC 241 last Sat. night (Aug. 17, 2019) on pay-per-view (PPV), which delivered a night of exciting action inside Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Stipe Miocic took his lumps from Daniel Cormier in the heavyweight main event, but ultimately prevailed after a scintillating fourth-round finish, reclaiming the division strap in the process. Before that fight got underway, Nate Diaz returned from his three-year hiatus to outclass Anthony Pettis in their three-round co-headliner. In addition, middleweight contender Paulo Costa passed the Yoel Romero test, squeaking by “Soldier of God” by way of unanimous decision.
