An 8-part literary non-fiction series about the life, and struggles, of UFC veteran David Mitchell.

David ‘Daudi’ Mitchell went 1-4 in the UFC between 2010 and 2014. During those years he suffered head trauma that would affect the rest of his life.

The Mitchell Paradox is an eight-part literary non-fiction series that chronicles his life and career. The series follows him from his roots in the NorCal fight scene, where he excels under the tutelage of UFC title challenger Dave Terrell. From there David makes it to the UFC.

In ZUFFA David suffers a great deal of damage. While fighting in the Octagon his profitable marijuana business gets broken up by the law. After being cut from the UFC David spirals out of control. He goes back to the local fight scene, but the damage to his head is piling up. Post concussion syndrome and mental illness combine to put David in a number of dangerous situations.

One of the most dangerous sees him stranded in the middle of the Nevada desert. However, he would find a way back home and, after a few more bumps in the road, seek treatment for his ailments.

When David steps away from the sport he finds a sanctuary that has the power to heal him. However, though life becomes much better, it is still filled with struggles associated to the hard life that comes with being a professional cage fighter.

The Mitchell Paradox is an in-depth story focusing on one man’s path through the pain factory that is MMA.

The Mitchell Paradox was written by Tim Bissell and edited by Zane Simon. It features original art from Chad Stanhope.
