I assumed that any UFC event being staged in “The Lone Star State” would almost certainly include one of its newest residents; but alas, longtime color commentator Joe Rogan will not be at the broadcast table for UFC 265 this Sat. night (Aug. 7) in Houston.
Taking over for the podcasting giant is former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz, who will help call the combat sports action alongside veteran play-by-play man Jon Anik and retired UFC heavyweight Daniel Cormier.
That’s according to MMA Junkie, which has Megan Olivi handling roving interviews, while ESPN utility player Brett Okamoto joins retired ex-UFC middleweight Chael Sonnen and “First Take” co-host Max Kellerman for network desk duty.
Bruce Buffer has the mic inside the Octagon.
UFC 265 will feature the interim heavyweight title fight pitting Derrick Lewis opposite Ciryl Gane. Elsewhere on the card, former featherweight champion Jose Aldo continues his 135-pound run against bantamweight bruiser Pedro Munhoz.
