The updated UFC rankings didn’t sit well with Jon Jones.

Right after his UFC 254 win and retirement announcement, Khabib Nurmagomedov also asked for the top spot at the UFC’s pound-for-pound rankings. That, of course, didn’t sit well with Jon Jones, the man who’s held that spot for a long time.

“Bones” had been exerting efforts to disprove fans and establish his case as the more deserving fighter. His argument: the number of title fights and defenses he’s had through his multiple stints as the undisputed 205-pound champion.

On Tuesday, the UFC updated its rankings with “The Eagle” as the new pound-for-pound king. Khabib was simply grateful for the recognition.

It was work of my life, I never got anything easy, and nothing was given to me because I’m nice guy. Hard work, hope for Allah and patience, this three ingredient helps me to get successful, and of course, control and advises from my Father, who invested in me a lot of time and work.

As for Jones, let’s just say he wasn’t too pleased with the new developments.

Jones is currently on a fighting hiatus, preparing for his heavyweight run. That probably explains why he has a lot of extra social media time in his hands. The date of his debut has yet to be made official.
