Stephen Thompson recently called out Robbie Lawler on social media.
Stephen Thompson isn’t giving up on a fight with former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler.
‘Wonderboy’ originally called out Lawler in an interview back in July and the South Carolinian is back at it again – this time on social media.
Thompson would like to get the fight booked by early next year.
I heard your going to be ready early next year @Ruthless_RL I know a guy who will be ready then too…Let’s give the fans what they want! I’m bringing the heat back, and you know this fight will be FIRE! @ufc

Thompson, a two-time title challenger, suffered a serious knee injury in his bout with Darren Till and is expected to be out of action until next year. The 35-year-old dropped a controversial decision to Till and hasn’t had a stoppage win since 2016, when he knocked out former welterweight champ Johny Hendricks at UFC Fight Night 82.
Lawler, 36, is 2-2 in his last four fights and hasn’t quite looked his usual ferocious self since losing the welterweight title to Tyron Woodley. The fan favorite was brutally knocked out in the first round and hasn’t had a stoppage win of his own since his Fight of the Year classic with Rory MacDonald at UFC 189.
Lawler hasn’t responded to Thompson, but the former Strikeforce competitor isn’t the most active on social media and is a man of few words. Whether or not Lawler replies, the UFC will, no doubt, be looking into booking this exciting welterweight matchup in the coming weeks.
