Iain Kidd and Stephie Haynes break down all the details surrounding Jon Jones’ greatly reduced suspension issued by USADA late yesterday.
Welcome to this special edition of Three Amigos Podcast fun. A few hours ago, news broke that former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones received a massively reduced suspension of just 15 months (down from a possible 48 months), stemming from a failed drug test in July, 2017 following his re-match with Daniel Cormier. This makes Jones eligible to return to octagon action as soon as October 28th.
There were some interesting details that came out of the arbitration investigation, so Iain Kidd and I decided to do a detailed explainer on everything involved in this case, going back to Jones’ previous suspensions, details about his recreational drug use, things to look for in the future from USADA in regards to Jones’ turn as an informant against peers and/or members of the community directly involved with athlete performance (coaches, trainers, managers), and everything else we could think of. We are confident that we’ve covered all the important facets of this case for our listeners.
