Dana White said it best: WTF?!?
The last time UFC President Dana White met with Japanese combat sports icon Nobuyuki Sakakibara, he left with ownership of PRIDE Fighting Championship.
No hard feelings, I suppose.
“Floyd surprised me by inviting Dana over to his house during a meeting,” Sakakibara wrote on Instagram. “It’s been 15 years since we have last met.”
Sakakibara now runs RIZIN, which is kind of like Diet PRIDE.
There was little explanation as to why White and Sakakibara were meeting with boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr., but most top secret deals stay top secret until contracts are signed and filed.
“HOOOOOOOLY SHIIIIIIIT!!!!!! WTF is goin’ on here,” White teased his followers.
My favorite theory coming from the social media rumor mill is that former UFC bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo — still under contract to White — is boxing Mayweather at Sakakibara’s New Year’s Eve show in Saitama.
I guess Ryan Garcia was busy that night.
