Ring of Combat XLI
Fri Jun 15 8:30PM ET
Ring of Combat returns June 15 with “Ring of Combat XLI” at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey or streaming on iPPV through the GFL Combat Sports Network. 4 titles are at stake as ROC continues to be the linchpin of East Coast MMA and this 14-bout, card reiterates its dominance as the top dog in the Tri-State area.
The main event, Uriah Hall (6-2) fights Nodar Kudukhashvili (0-0) for the vacant ROC Middleweight Championship. Hall comes into the bout on a 2-fight win streak, both stoppages, one via KO and one via submission. In fact, all 6 wins by Hall have come via stoppage making Hall one of the most exciting fighters on the East Coast circuit. The native of the country Georgia, Kudukhashvili, comes into the fight a relative unknown, although he has had fights in Eastern Europe they are not officially recorded in MMA databases. Kudukhashvili is a sambo expert and loves to grapple to if he can get the fight to the ground he will look to finish Hall on the mat.
In the co-main event, James Jenkins (5-0) battles Guillermo “Will” Serment (3-3) for the ROC Featherweight Title. The undefeated Jenkins has fought his whole career inside the ROC cage and now he goes for gold. With only 1 decision to his credit, Jenkins is a fighter that likes to push the pace and create his own openings and look for the finish. Serment is on a 2-fight win streak himself, and the Illinois native comes to New Jersey to take make it number 3 against Jenkins. Serment likes to grind his opponents out winning by decision so this matchup will be a contrast in styles with Jenkins looking for a way to stop Serment and Serment looking to wear Jenkins down.
In other title fights, Ed Gordon (4-0) fights Carlos Brooks (4-1) for the ROC Light Heavyweight Title. Gordon has been on a tear in his early career winning all 4 of his fights. Gordon is heavy handed and packs dynamite in both hands. Brooks is coming off a spectacular first round KO himself and this bout has the makings to be fight of the night, because these two 205 lb fighters are going to be throwing everything but the kitchen sink at each other.
And Jimmie Rivers (8-1) takes on Justin Hickey (6-2) for the ROC Bantamweight Championship. Rivera holds a championship with another organization already, and looks to add to his collection with this fight. The Bellator and TUF vet has faced a who’s who of the East Coast’s best and will look to utilize his strong wrestling base to nullify any of Hickey’s offense. Hickey has won 6 of his last 7 bouts and this will be his first time going for a title. He also has a strong ground game and will look to win the scrambles and land points on the feet. If Hickey wins this bout, he will draw a lot of attention to himself as beating Rivers is no easy task.
You won’t find a more thrilling card then this one. Be sure to catch all of the action LIVE on June 15 as Ring of Combat presents “Ring of Combat XLI” exclusively on pay-per-view at GFL.tv.
Cage Wars XVI
Fri Jun 15 7:30PM ET
Xtreme Fight Events returns on June 15 with “Cage Wars 16″, a 14-bout pro/am card, emanating from the Harrah’s Casino in Chester Pennsylvania. “Cage Wars” has quickly solidified itself in Pennsylvania as a top-tier MMA event, and the fighters on June 15 will be ready to throw down in the cage.
In the main event, Hector Pacheco (1-3) battles Epifano Diaz (1-2) in a lightweight showdown. Pacheco is coming off an impressive win at “Cage Wars 12″ via heel hook in round one. Pacheco is a tough draw for any upcoming fighter as he has the cardio to go three full rounds and has only been stopped once. Pacheco is also ready, willing and able to stand in the middle of the cage and trade punches with any 155 lb fighter. Diaz is coming off a tough decision loss at Ring of Combat earlier this year and looks to get back on the right track with a victory over Pacheco. Never stopped in a fight, Diaz has always showed the heart of a lion and his fight with Pacheco should be a barnburner as neither man knows the meaning of retreat.
In the co-main event, Juan Vazquez (1-2) takes on Nathan Van Tassel (0-2) in a welterweight tilt. Vazquez is a New Jersey native and this will be his debut with “Cage Wars”. Vazquez utilizes a high risk-high reward fighting style that has made him a crowd favorite in the East Coast. He will look to try and get Van Tassel in a brawl and end the fight with a spectacular finish. Van Tassel is looking for his first victory as a professional and also likes to bang. He has suffered both of his losses via submission so the fans might be in a for a real rock ‘em sock ‘em fight as both of these warriors like to throw leather.
Xtreme Fight Events returns with epic fighting in front of a worldwide audience courtesy of the GFL Combat Sports Network. Watch “Cage Wars 16″ on June 15. If you can’t be there live, stream the show online at GFL.tv.
School of Hard Knocks 25: Medicine Hat
Fri Jun 15 9:00PM ET
Western Canada’s top MMA promotion returns as Hard Knocks Fighting Championship presents “School of Hard Knocks 25 – Medicine Hat”, June 15 at the Cypress Centre Auditorium. The action packed 10-bout pro/am card features 2 titles up for grabs and many of the top up and coming superstars of the Great White North. HKFC is the top proving ground for rising prospects in Western Canada and the 20th installment promises to deliver great fights once again.
In the main event, Dia Grant (5-6) from Dynamic MMA in Calgary, Alberta takes on Roy Bradshaw (8-9) from Sik Jitsu in Inchelium, Washington. Grant is coming off an impressive victory at HKFC 23 where he defeated his opponent via RNC in round two. In fact, Grant has won 3 of his last 4, all by stoppage, and looks to give Bradshaw the same fate. A well rounded grappler and striker Grant can finish fights on his feet or on the mat and with the quick turnaround (his last bout being last month), Grant has been working nonstop on his MMA game. For Bradshaw, the Pacific Northwest vet has been a pro since 2009 and never turned down a challenge yet. He comes into the bout with Grant on a 2-fight win streak himself and looks to make it number 3 against one of HKFC most decorated fighters in Grant. Both of these fighters are looking to break out from the pack and the winner of this bout will do so.
In co-main event, Charmaine Tweet (1-2) from Chi-Ki Training in Regina, SK takes on Chicago native Adrienne Seiber (1-2) from Academy of Self Defense in a featherweight scrap. Tweet is a kickboxing standout who likes to bang when she steps into the cage. Tweet is also proficient on the ground picking up a win in her last bout via guillotine choke. For Seiber, who is a Bellator veteran, she has proven to be a tough matchup with anyone as she has never been stopped in a fight and has heavy hands herself winning by TKO. This bout has all of the makings for fight of the night as the winner will improve her record to .500 so look for both women to be throwing punches with bad intentions.
