– Friday, July 27, 2012 9:00pm ET featuring Xtreme Cage Wars Fighting Championship (XCWFC) presents “XCWFC 49″ at the North Battleford Civic Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. In the main event, Caleb Ermine (1-0) battles Dauda Keita (1-0) for the XCWFC Lightweight Title. Ermine has a well balanced attack in his arsenal and loves to get the fight to the ground where he can apply a submission hold. Ermine won his first fight in a minute when he got the tapout win via choke. Keita has already won a title with XCWFC as he was the former Welterweight Champion, getting second round submission of his own. You have to expect that Keita will be the stronger fighter in the cage as he is naturally the bigger fighter. Look for Keita to try and over power Ermine in the early going. If Ermine can withstand Keita’s advances, he might be able to wear Keita out as the drop in weight class could pose a problem as the fight goes on in the cardio department for Keita. Either way this fight goes, it is for all the marbles and someone is walking away with championship gold. In the co-main event, Ricky Sanderson (0-0) fights Jake Ahenakew (0-1) in a lightweight contenders match. Sanderson is making his debut in this bout against Ahenakew who will have the advantage when it comes to cage time, but has shown that he is susceptible to submissions as he lost his only bout via tapout. This is an even matchup between the two Canadians and a victory for either man will get their career going in the right direction early on and open up more doors for them in the future. Expect both men to be desperate for a victory and throw everything but the kitchen sink at one another. This bout has all the makings of fight of the night, because all the chips are down on the table and both of these men need a win..
– Saturday, July 28, 2012 7:30pm ET featuring Elite 1 MMA – Redemption from the Redball Internet Centre. In the main event, Richard Arsenault (4-2) of Wellington, PE defends his Elite 1 MMA Welterweight Championship against tough challenger Ricky Goodall (9-6). Arsenault is riding a 2-fight win streak and has finished his opponents in all 4 of his wins. A tough draw for any fighter, Arsenault has only lost by decision. The Champion brings heavy hands and a big heart into the cage every time and has become a fan favorite wherever he fights. Goodall is by far the most experienced fighter Arsenault has ever faced and a real threat to his title. Goodall is famous for fighting a who’s who on the Canadian fight scene and never backs away from an opponent. Always a game fighter, Goodall can mix it up with the best of them and prefers to let his hands do the talking in the cage. Goodall is also a strong grappler so this should be a great fight as the champion and challenger both have something to prove. In the co-main event, Nabil “The Thrill” Khatib (11-7) fights Matt MacGrath. Khatib comes into the bout having fought all over the Great White North and looks to claim the #1 Contender’s spot with a victory. Khatib has always been on the cusp of greatness and a victory over the durable McGrath might put him next in line to face the winner of the main event for the title. MacGrath (6-8) is a Bellator veteran and looks to get back in the win column with a victory over the gritty Khatib. MacGrath is a well-rounded fighter who has fought several UFC vets and is not intimidated by anyone. Look for MacGrath to come out swinging early or looking for a takedown and try to get a quick submission. The winner of this bout looks like the next candidate for a title shot.
– Saturday, July 28, 2012 8:00pm ET featuring Sportfight X from the Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham, Alabama. In the main event, Daniel O’Brien (1-0) fights Elite XC and Bellator veteran Moyses Gabin (5-4) in a middleweight showdown. O’Brien holds his win via first round TKO and has been gearing up for this bout retooling his arsenal so expect a fighter that is both heavy handed and a strong grappler. Gabin goes into the bout with a very decided experience advantage and has faced much stiffer competition in his career. Look for Gabin to shoot in early on O’Brien early and try and lock up a submission. This fight should be action packed as this is a big step for O’Brien and if he can win it will push his career to the next level. For Gabin, a win here could put him back on the path of Bellator or another international organization. In the co-main event, Stephen Wilhite (2-0) takes on Chad Livingston (6-1) in the lightweight division. Wilhite is a grappling standout who has both victories by choke. He wants to get the fight to the mat as quick as possible and go for the neck. Livingston made a name for himself fighting in his home state of Florida where he won a tourney and became champion for a rising promotion in South Florida. Livingston has great cardio and likes to push the pace for three rounds. These two 155 lb fighters could prove to be the fight of the night as both are hungry, active fighters who always take the fight to their opponent. There shouldn’t be any backing up in this fight. Matt Ward (2-0) is also scheduled to fight Allen Little (0-2) in a middleweight scrap. This bout should present fireworks from the opening bell as Ward likes to throw bombs while looking for opportunities on the ground and Little uses a high reward high risk style of fighting that always makes him a crows favorite. Don’t blink in this bout.
