Darren Till is coming for his Dricus Du Plessis rematch … or at least a return to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

The trajectories of Till and Du Plessis have gone in opposite directions at Middleweight since they arrived in the division in UFC. The champion, Du Plessis, ended Till’s UFC run and put his mixed martial arts (MMA) career on ice with a third round face crank (watch highlights) at UFC 282 in December 2022. Meanwhile, South Africa’s “StillKnocks” just successfully made his first title defense with that same maneuver in round four (watch highlights) of his UFC 305 main event opposite Israel Adesanya this past weekend (Aug. 17, 2024).

Before the fight, Till offered up some advice to Adesanya on how to beat Du Plessis despite coming up short against him. Du Plessis unsurprisingly found the comments funny and played into it further afterward. Therefore, prompting Till to reach for a return to the Octagon.

“@darrentill2 any advice on beating ‘Izzy?’” Du Plessis tweeted. “Please coach me, any advice will help [pray emoji]”

“I might come back the UFC just to beat ‘DDP’ & leave again,” Till tweeted. “What you saying @danawhite Hunter?

“Ur still sh*t ur style just works so good for you…” Till replied. “congrats though I am genuinely happy for u… ur still sh*t though… [smiley face emoji]”

Since his departure from UFC, Till made his professional boxing debut with a second round technical knockout against Mohammed Mutie (watch highlights) last month (July 6, 2024). If Till manages to make it back to UFC, it’s safe to assume he’ll have a sizable ladder to climb toward title contention with Du Plessis looking at any option between Sean Strickland, Robert Whittaker, and Khamzat Chimaev for his immediate future.
