Marvin Vettori’s original UFC Vegas 23 opponent was not impressed with the performance he saw.

While Darren Till wasn’t in the main event on Saturday night at UFC Vegas 24 due to a broken collarbone, he made his presence felt through fight week and on fight night due to his typically spicy Twitter persona. It’s a good thing “The Gorilla” is as good at fighting with his thumbs on the couch as he is in the cage, otherwise this year layoff due to injury might steal some of his shine.

As it stands, we’re still getting plenty of entertainment. At the start of the week Till called his former opponent Marvin Vettori a ‘Lord of the Rings orc looking motherf**ker’ for questioning the legitimacy of his broken collarbone injury. Later in the week he smiled as everyone from Vettori to Holland to Mike Perry kept bringing up his name.

After the main event between Vettori and late replacement Kevin Holland (watch the highlights here), Till shared his thoughts.

“As for Marv… sorry ‘ork,’” he wrote. “It wasn’t the prettiest win but a win’s a win and it means so much to him you can see. That fight told me he knew he couldn’t strike with me so he was going to try take me down. Even if he were to succeed in takedowns he wouldn’t have been able to keep me there.”

“I would have hurt this man for five rounds on the feet,” he continued. “But hey who the f**k am I to talk? I pulled out of the fight so every right I have goes out the window with that. Whatever happens for Marvin next, good luck I’m sure we’ll meet soon. I’ve got a fake injury to recover from and repair. See you all soon. All very soon.”

Broken collarbones can take anywhere between two months to six months to heal, depending on the seriousness of the fracture. With Till’s previous fight against Jack Hermansson back in December of 2020 also cancelled due to injury (broken foot), we imagine he’s chomping at the bit to get back in the cage sooner rather than later.

Let’s just hope he manages to get back to his healthy ways after this. The last time he had to pull out of a fight before this latest spat was 2015, when he dropped a fight in Brazil because the UFC signed him.
