Tito Ortiz is currently rehabbing after another surgery, but still wants to fight some big names down the road.
Tito Ortiz may be 41 and coming off yet another surgery, but he says he’s not done yet. The UFC Hall of Famer and current Bellator fighter is still looking for big fights, and he has a couple of names in mind when he spoke to MMA Fighting recently. First though, he gave an update on his health after surgery to remove some bone spurs:
“I’m a machine, man. I’ll be good. I’ll be good in about a month. I’ll fight this year, 100 percent.”
When it comes to a return, he obviously wants name fighters standing across from him. One interesting option is recently-unretired heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko. Tito makes it clear he wants the fight, but has a big caveat attached:
“I won’t take Fedor my first fight,” Ortiz said. “I’m coming off an injury, you know. I want a warm-up first. Let’s do a warm-up first and let’s make it a big warm-up, so that everybody wants to watch it.”
Another possibility could be Kimbo Slice, who is currently booked to fight Dada 5000 in February:
“That’s a pretty damn good name.”
He says he has one more month of rehab to do before he can return to training. Then it’ll be up to Bellator (or possibly RIZIN) to set him up with an opponent.
