A battle between a couple of lightweight veterans was officially added to the UFC’s next trip to Brazil. Per the UFC’s official website, The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 1 vet Francisco Trinaldo will take on Canadian kickboxer John Makdessi at UFC Brasilia, in March.

Most recently, back in November 2019, Francisco Trinaldo (24-7) outpointed Bobby Green en route to a unanimous decision win at UFC Sao Paulo. With the victory, the 41-year-old bounced back from a controversial unanimous decision loss to young prospect Alexander Hernandez, back in July of the same year.

Currently on a three-fight winning streak, John Makdessi (17-6) will try to make it four in a row against ‘Massaranduba’. In his last outings, the ‘Bull’ bested Abel Trujillo, Ross Pearson and most recently, back in March 2019, Jesus Pinedo, all by way of unanimous decision. The 34-year-old’s last loss came in December 2016, when he got knocked out via wheel kick by Lando Vannata.

Now, Francisco Trinaldo is expected to take on John Makdessi at UFC Fight Night 170, in Brasilia, Brazil, on March 14. Although the card does not have an official main event yet, a welterweight bout between welterweights Demian Maia and Gilbert Burns was reported to be in the works for the same night.
