Two lightweight match-ups confirmed in Meisel-Prepolec and Assenza-Solomon

Press Release – TORONTO, August 7, 2012 – Three more bouts have been added to the Score Fighting Series (SFS) lineup on Saturday August 25th at the Hamilton Place Theatre. An eye popping main card match-up tops the list with top ranked Canadian featherweight Tristan Johnson (7-2) of Jordantown, Nova Scotia returning to the cage against Rick “The Gladiator” Glenn (10-2-1) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Four promising lightweights will also be in action as Jason Meisel (3-0) of Caledonia, Ontario puts his undefeated record up against Kyle Prepolec (4-1) and Taylor “The King” Solomon (3-4) takes on Adam “Maverick” Assenza (1-1).

Long considered one of Canada’s best young fighters, Johnson looks to add another win to his already impressive resume. Having made his name with dominant striking and an underrated ground game, the 28-year-old last competed in October 2011 where he turned in a decisive first round TKO win over Lyndon Whitlock. Prior to that Johnson posted a unanimous decision over another top ranked 145er in Will Romero.

Johnson’s climb up the featherweight ladder will have to come at the expense of Glenn which will be no small task. Glenn, 23, is currently riding an eight-fight unbeaten streak and trains under one of the world’s top striking coaches in Duke Roufus. “The Gladiator” began his MMA career by racking up a very impressive 15-1 amateur record and has been just as deadly as a pro by finishing nine of his ten opponents inside the distance.

Meisel, 25, is one of the most exciting young fighters in Canada and has notched all three of his pro victories inside The Score Fighting Series’ cage. Always a candidate for Fight of the Night, Meisel has notched wins over Adam Assenza, Joel Paquette and Mike Sledzion. Prepolec, 22, is an equally dynamic scrapper who trains under Rino Belcastro at the Maximum Training Centre in Windsor, Ontario. In his last cage appearance, Prepolec posted an armbar victory over Lance Snow in a thrilling back and forth battle.

Fresh off a victory over John Roche in March, Assenza will be looking to take his record over .500 against the always game Solomon. Assenza’s game plan won’t be a secret as the 24-year-old looks to parlay his unrelenting style into a win over “The King”. Solomon, 27, is a two time Bellator veteran including a stunning 70-second TKO over Mike Sledzion. He is looking to get back into the win column following a loss to Jason Fischer in April.

The fights will compliment a card that already includes a long awaited bantamweight confrontation between Josh Hill (8-0) and John “Haggis Basher” Fraser (9-3), a striker’s duel between Jesse “The Body Snatcher” Ronson (10-2) and Alex Ricci (5-0) and a featherweight showdown between Will “Leon” Romero (9-3)
and David “Tarzan” Douglas (8-4)
.

Every fight on the card will be streamed live on theScore.com
and for the first time ever, fights from the main card will be carried live across Canada on theScore Television Network starting at 9 pm EST. Tickets start at $30 and are available at Ticketmaster.ca
.
