Well, that wasn’t how anyone was expecting the final fight of the TUF 18 Finale undercard to go down.
Maximo Blanco got off to a fast start in his featherweight bout with Akira Corassani, opening up with a big flurry.
Blanco dropped Corassani and continued to swarm him, then landed a huge knee to head of Corassini, who had both a knee and a hand on the mat as he was attempting to get back to his feet.
Referee Mario Yamasaki ruled the foul intentional. So when Corassani couldn’t continue after a rest period, he was awarded a rare disqualification win at just 25 seconds of the first round.
Corassani (12-3, 1 NC) won his third straight fight. For Blanco (9-5-1, 1 NC), the bout goes into the books as his third loss in his past four fights.
