TUF 19 middleweight winner Eddie Gordon highlighted a list of three fighters who received extended six-month medical suspensions in the wake of Sunday night’s The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale, according to information released to MMAFighting.com by the Nevada Athletic Commission.
Gordon, who defeated Dhiego Lima via first-round TKO in a main card bout, now requires his left shoulder to be cleared by a physician, or otherwise be forced to sit out until early January 2015.
Aside from Gordon, TUF 19 light heavyweight runner-up Matt Van Buren and UFC rookie Keith Berish will also require physician clearance on injuries suffered during the event, or otherwise be forced to sit out until early January 2015.
TUF 19 Finale took place July 6, 2014 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV. A complete list of the medical suspensions can be seen below.
- Matt Van Buren: Requires right orbital fracture to be cleared by an ophthalmologist or no contact until 01/03; minimum suspension no contest 08/21, no contact until 08/06
- Eddie Gordon: Requires left shoulder to be cleared by a physician or no contest until 01/03
- Keith Berish: Requires left knee injury to be cleared by orthopedic physician or no contest until 01/03
- B.J. Penn: Suspended until 09/05; no contact until 08/21 due to left eye laceration
- Dhiego Lima: Suspended until 08/21; no contact until 08/06
- Guto Inocente: Suspended until 08/21; no contact until 08/06 due to facial lacerations
- Juan Manuel Puig: Suspended until 08/21; no contact until 08/06
- Justin Scoggins: Suspended until 08/06; no contact until 07/28
- Jesse Ronson: Suspended until 08/06; no contact until 07/28
- Jumabieke Tuerxun: Suspended until 08/06; no contact until 07/28
- Patrick Walsh: Suspended until 08/06; no contact until 07/28 due to scalp laceration
