The two opened up right away with Gordon pressuring Lima right away, throwing strong overhand rights and trying to keep Lima on his heels. One of those major punches connected and immediately put Lima in visible trouble. Lima tried to hang on, but Gordon connected with a series of hard punches, both overhands and uppercuts. Upon replay, some of the shots appeared to connect to the back of Lima’s head, but referee Yves Lavigne issued no warnings. Eventually Lima collapsed face first, which allowed Gordon to unload until the stoppage came.
The end came officially at 1:11 of the very first round.
“I knew it was going to be war,” Gordon confessed. “[Lima]’s not Chris Weidman. I’m lucky enough to train with the best camp in the world.”
Gordon is now the new The Ultimate Fighter middleweight winner. His record climbs to 7-1 while Lima drops to 9-2.
