Heavyweight boxing legend George Foreman says he would have pursued a career in MMA if it was around in his day.
What if mixed martial arts rivalled boxing as the go-to combat sport 30+ years ago? What if the boxing greats pursued a different career path entirely?
We’ve witnessed the short-lived boxing-MMA crossovers in James Toney and Ray Mercer in 2009/2010, which saw Randy Couture submit “Lights Out” and “Merciless” devastate Tim Sylvia at Adrenaline MMA 3, but what would become of the Mike Tyson’s and George Foreman’s if they dedicated their craft to MMA?
Foreman, who retired from boxing at the age of 48 with multiple titles to his resume, entertained the idea on Twitter yesterday.
I regret MMA was not around in my day. I could gone far with a good trainer https://t.co/WrA5cJnmDm

The heavyweight legend was known for his heavy hands and devastating power, having collected 68 knockouts in 76 wins. Since retirement, Foreman has gone one to find success in the business world with his top-selling George Foreman Grill.
Fellow boxing heavyweight Mike Tyson, who is also an avid fan of the UFC, will feature as a playable character for the upcoming EA Sports UFC 2.
