Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) had yet another pre-fight weigh-in event fall apart at the eleventh hour but credit to matchmakers — who benefitted from the dumbest of luck — two bounced fighters resulted in just one canceled match up.
Takashi Sato successfully made weight for his Daniel Rodriguez fight at UFC on ESPN 15 tomorrow night (Aug. 29) inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas; however, Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) ruled the Pancrase veteran ineligible to compete.
Elsewhere on the card, Octagon newcomer Calen Born no-showed the weigh ins altogether for “personal reasons,” leaving welterweight opponent Dwight Grant high and dry. Since both stranded fighters compete at 170 pounds, matchmakers were able to pit Rodriguez against Grant.
