Leon Edwards has opened as the betting favorite over Tyron Woodley.

Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley has opened as the betting underdog against Leon Edwards ahead of their all-but-confirmed welterweight showdown at UFC London next year.

That’s according to Betting Insider Journal, who released the odds for the proposed welterweight matchup on Thursday.

Woodley, 37, has opened as the +115 underdog while Edwards, 28, is the -147 favorite.

This may come as a surprise, given that Woodley ruled the welterweight throne for almost three years and, despite being dethroned by Kamaru Usman, is still considered one of the greatest welterweight fighters in the world.

Edwards, however, is almost ten years younger than ‘T-Wood’ and has much less fight mileage on the clock. The British, Birmingham-based talent is riding an impressive eight-fight win streak and holds notable victories over the likes of Rafael dos Anjos and Donald Cerrone. Edwards hasn’t lost a fight since 2015, when he dropped a unanimous decision to ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ at UFC on FOX 17.

UFC Fight Night 171, which is expected to feature Woodley vs. Edwards as the main event, takes place next year, March 21 at the O2 Arena in London, England.
