Tyrone Spong vs. Nathan Corbett rematch headlines Glory 11 in Chicago
GLORY light heavyweight tournament champion Tyrone Spong will be out for vengeance when he collides with Nathan “Carnage” Corbett in the main event of Glory 11 Chicago, which broadcasts live on Spike TV on October 12, 2013 from the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, IL.
GLORY officials finalized the event on Wednesday.
Tyrone Spong vs. Nathan Corbett, pt. 2/2
Spong (72-6-1) and Corbett (57-3-1) met once before in 2009, fighting to a controversial no contest after a bizarre finish that saw Corbett knock down Spong as the referee waved off the match, leading to mass confusion and preventing the bout from being ruled a KO victory for Corbett.
Since then Spong has won 10 of his 12 kickboxing matches, including his current streak of eight straight, while Corbett has racked up 12 consecutive victories.
Glory 11 Chicago will also feature a one-fight, four-man heavyweight tournament to determine the GLORY Heavyweight Tournament World Champion. Gökhan Saki (79-16-1) vs. Rico Verhoeven (40-7-1) and Daniel Ghiță (48-9) vs. Anderson ‘Braddock’ Silva (36-9-1) make up the semi-final match-ups. A grand prize of $250,000 will be awarded to the tournament champion.
Additionally, Canada’s “Bazooka Joe” Valtellini (10-1) is set to lock horns with France’s Karim Ghajji (85-8-1) in the night’s co-main event.
