Tyson Fury would like to see a rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor was one of the most lucrative boxing matches of all time, but not everyone’s in a hurry to see a rematch.

After McGregor dazzled fans against Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone this past Saturday at UFC 246, most MMA fans want ‘The Notorious’ to stay put in the Octagon for the time being. But heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury, who is scheduled to rematch Deontay Wilder in February, thinks a MayMac rematch would be great for boxing and the entertainment business as a whole.

Fury also believes McGregor performed ‘quite well’ against Mayweather and believes the Irishman would be able to hold his own in a rematch.

“If he wants to be a boxer, if he wants to do boxing, do it,” Fury told. “I thought he’d done quite well against Floyd Mayweather. He’d done as good as anybody else has done, really. He was catching Mayweather with some good shots.

”I think it’s great for boxing and great for combat sports,” Fury said in a recent interview with ESPN. “If McGregor fights Pacquiao or Mayweather, it creates a big show in Las Vegas. It gives people the opportunity to come out and get involved in the entertainment and action. It creates jobs for people. It brings money to Las Vegas, money to America. It brings tourism to the country. I think it’s very, very good for sports in general.”

McGregor had some early success in his 2017 boxing match against Floyd and received praise from the likes of Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield, but the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion faded in the later rounds and didn’t make it past the 10th.

Since McGregor’s first-round TKO of Cerrone at UFC 246, Mayweather has released a poster teasing of a rematch with the Dubliner. It’s more likely, however, that McGregor will go on to fight Jorge Masvidal for the ‘BMF’ title.
