Former WBC heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, along with his company Tyrannic, had a deal in place to promote an online casino and gambling company in 2024 — but terminated the agreement for breach of contract back in March.
The same day he announced his boxing match against YouTube sensation Jake Paul.
“The true reason for Mr. Tyson and Tyrannic’s hasty and unlawful termination was because Mr. Tyson had agreed to a deal, sponsored by Netflix, to fight the influencer Jake Paul,” the lawyer for Medier said in court documents (via USA Today Sports).
Tyson is being sued for nearly $1.59 million.
Paul defeated Tyson by way of tepid decision atop a special Netflix-streamed boxing event last month in Texas. “Iron” will be returning to the streaming platform in 2025 for a gritty, three-part documentary about his life and career (more on that here).
Tyson and his attorneys have yet to comment on the pending lawsuit.
