For Bellator featherweight Tywan Claxton, fighting full-time is much more worth it than taking a job that pays him $250K per year.
When flyweight Brandon Royval made his UFC debut against Tim Elliot in May, he was also working full-time at a juvenile detention center in his home state of Colorado. But after he got his performance bonus that night, the 28-year-old quit his job and put his sole focus on fighting.
Bellator featherweight Tywan Claxton is going down a similar path. As the 27-year-old fighter recently announced on Twitter, he apparently turned down a job offer that’ll pay him $250K a year to fight full-time.
Today i was offered a full stack developer position making 250,000 / year…did an interview for shits and giggles, really to test my knowledge, ended up getting the offer…today i decided i was a full time fighter… part time developer… at least until i hear #AndNew

His major life decision was compelling enough to catch the attention of SBG Dublin’s head coach John Kavanagh, who had this to say.
2-2 on your last 4. Which I’m guessing is less than 100k per year on a very short lived career. And yet you bet on yourself rather than take a beginning salary of quarter mill per year. I cant help but admire the self belief, amazing!

“Air” Claxton, an NCAA Division II wrestler, began his professional career with Bellator in 2017. He last competed at Bellator 242 in June, where he lost via split decision to Jay Jay Wilson. Claxton holds a record of 6-2 (with four wins by knockout).
