After weeks of “will it, won’t it” speculation regarding if UFC 112 will actually take place in Abu Dhabi, turns out the answer is: it will.
The event, which features co-headlining world title fights between B.J. Penn vs. Frankie Edgar and Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort, will still take place in an existing open-air/outdoor arena.
Just not the one they were originally intending on.
The above [cartoon] rendition is of Concert Arena, Ferrari World, Yas Island, which is about a 30-minute drive from Abu Dhabi. Good video tour of the venue on MMA Mafia here.

Says Dana White:
“This is one of the biggest and most significant nights in the history of the UFC. UFC 112 is our first ever outdoor event and it is taking place in the hometown of our brand new partners, Flash Entertainment. We are very happy we could deliver what fans around the world will recognise as a stacked card featuring the sport’s biggest stars.”
