When Zuffa LLC officials closed the doors on the WEC and moved most of the fighters to its sister promotion, the UFC, WEC vet Anthony Njokuani heard the rumblings about the overlapping lightweights.

“We’re the redheaded [stepchildren] like everyone called us, right?” Njokuani recently joked while a guest on MMAjunkie.com Radio.

But following recent UFC victories by fellow WEC notables Donald Cerrone, Danny Castillo and Shane Roller, Njokuani now hopes to continue the streak when he makes his own UFC debut against Edson Barboza at next week’s UFC 128 event.
