CALGARY – It won’t go down as one of the better fights in UFC history, but Cheick Kongo got back in the win column.
Kongo grinded out a unanimous decision victory over Shawn Jordan in a mostly plodding fight that featured Jordan working for takedowns and Kongo defending them. The majority of the fight was contested in the clinch along the fence, but Kongo took home the win with scores of 30-28, 30-27, 30-27 as the crowd voiced its displeasure with the pace.
The heavyweight bout was part of the main card of Saturday’s UFC 149 event at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.
